Rolling vs. Sliding Search Systems – A Comparative Analysis

The development of rolling and sliding search systems has been a key focus for JSC "Firma TVEMA" in improving rail flaw detection. Rolling search systems, introduced in 2017, utilize elastic materials to maintain stable acoustic contact, particularly on planar changes like vertical steps at bolted joints. However, they face challenges on curved tracks or sections with lateral wear, where periodic adjustments are required.

In contrast, sliding search systems excel in maintaining stable acoustic contact on profile changes, such as curved or worn rails, without the need for frequent adjustments. While rolling systems are better suited for planar changes, sliding systems offer greater adaptability to varying track conditions.

The future of rail inspection lies in hybrid solutions that combine the strengths of both systems, ensuring optimal performance across diverse railway environments.
